If You'll Be My Valentine? by Cynthia Rylant
working on initial /v/ sounds, scroll down for more
To make the /v/ sound, place your front upper teeth over your lower lip and blow while activating your larynx to create voice.
Here are some easy activities for practicing this sound at home or while you're traveling around during the day:
1. When you’re driving in your car/truck/van with your child keep an eye on the kinds of cars around you and call it out when you see a van.
2. When you’re with your child re-read one of the story books that you both like and make up voices for all the different characters.
3. Practice using the word “very” by finding things around your house that are extreme in some way. For example, look at your fruits and vegetables- what is very/big/small, sweet/tart, soft/chewy?
