The emphasis in this lesson is on producing the /s/ sound in the middle of words. The sound is made with the tongue behind the teeth, slightly touching the roof of the mouth. A common way to elicit this sound is to tell your child to smile, bite, then blow.
Here are some easy activities for practicing this sound at home or while you're traveling around during the day:
1. With your child, talk about the things you like to do inside and outside.
2. When you are in the car with your child, take turns calling out kinds of signs you see, eg “Stop sign”, “Target sign”.
3. Practice counting to 6 & 7- What do you have 6 of at your house? How about 7?
4. Talk with your child about things you might have for supper, lunch & breakfast. What are supper foods? Answer like this : "Soup is for supper. ","Candy is not for supper."
