working on /w/ sound- scroll down for more
To make the /w/ sound, you have to move your lips. Start with your lips rounded and make the "oo" sound. Keep vocalizing while you move your lips to a more open position to say "ah". The movement from the "oo" to the "ah" position is what makes your /w/ sound.
Here are some activities to work on this sound at home:
1. If you keep a home calendar on your wall, talk about what is posted for different weeks, past and present, eg “Look at what we did that week? Do you remember that week we went to the dentist? In 2 weeks we have to go again”.
2. Talk about places you’ve gone to practice the words “where” and “went”. “ Where did we go last summer? We went to Houston. We went to HEB. We went outside.”
3. Look in your kitchen and talk about the things you have to wash before you eat. “Do we need to wash this apple? Do we need to wash this pizza?”
